PHEBE:

The first word that comes to mind from the 70s is idealistic. I am still to some degree. I fear I’ve lost some passion and idealism due to a lack of energy. I need more sleep

VIC:

Yeah, and idealistic that’s a good word, because I think we believed we could change the world, and that’s maybe that’s just being young, and maybe it’s being a fanatic.

INTERVIEWER:

How did you think you could or how did you want to change the world? Do you mean like you and your set of friends or who?

VIC:

I guess we thought, I am thinking of communal living which is most intense. We thought it was like a microcosm of the world, and we thought we could change how we related to each other. Feelings were important, everyone’s expression of their feelings were important.

PHEBE:

That’s still true.

INTERVIEWER:

So how did you think you were changing things through communal living?

PHEBE:

Running down Monogamy. That’s still one of our big things.

VIC:

Not being possessive. Being

PHEBE:

Sharing.

VIC:

Yeah. We shared everything. “
